I'M GOING TO KOREA IN A MONTH I'M GOING TO KOREA IN A MONTH I'M GOING TO KOREA IN A MONTH I'M GOING TO KOREA IN A MONTH I'M GOING TO KOREA IN A MONTH

Now that that's out of my system (I'M GOING TO KOREA A MONTH FROM TODAY *shot*), I suppose I'll just start by saying that the past month has kinda sucked. Y'know, emotional fragility and the like. Ever have one of those days where you're kinda like fraying at the edges and it'll only take one little thing to either send you flying into unstoppable rage or hiding in a corner crying your eyes out? Enter the last month for me. I haven't ended up in either of those situations, but maybe it'd be better if I did so I could just get it over with. XD I'm kinda sick of the tightrope walking here, and it's only adding to the stressful crap I've got to deal with. Oh well, I'll live. What doesn't kill me only makes me stronger, and all that.

On the bright side, I'm going home in two weeks, my sister's coming to see me in a week, and I'M GOING TO KOREA IN A MONTH. And I'm going to Germany in 14 months. :3

Anyway! [info]ihatesasuke gave me some questions to answer for a fun game or other, so I'll get on with that.

Comment on this post saying you want to play and I'll give you five things I associate with you/want to know more about. Then you post them in your journal and elaborate.

1. Air Force (Why'd you join, what's it like, do you enjoy it, etc.)

I joined the Air Force for three reasons: (1) I wanted to do something for my country, and this was a good way to do it, (2) I didn't have the money to pay for college, and (3) I was bored. The AF is actually all right, as far as I'm concerned. It's confusing and frustrating sometimes, but it's a job and as long as I don't royally screw up I'll be keeping it. There's a bit of an unpredictable element as well (for instance, I was deployed last year with only twelve days' prior notice), but I think the benefits outweight the cons. And I always really appreciate people thanking me and whatnot. Makes me really glad I'm doing this. :3

2. Favorite Subject when you were in school.

There are a few--band (I was a huge band geek in high school), mythology, electronics (fun fact: I was the first female at my high school to ever complete the class), wood shop, AP English, choir, and Seminary. Oddly enough, I hated history, even I really love learning history. I guess it's because the teacher sucked and was really boring. Though I do remember for one of the first classes she had us group up and create our own countries, complete with cities, roads, major exports, stuff like that. My friends and I made a country shaped like a chicken and the entire thing was chicken-themed. XD

3. Politics, and your take on it.

Rather broad topic, but oh well. I'll see how I do with this! First off, I'm part of the Constitution Party, though up until a few months ago I was independent. I've known about the Constitution Party for over a year now, but the only issue I didn't agree with them on was the war. Since then, I've done my own research and now my opinion matches theirs. For an in-depth look at pretty much EVERYTHING I believe, take a look at their platform.

Secondly: I'm still learning about all this political stuff--I honestly didn't care about politics or current events at all until maybe halfway through 2008, when the presidential campaigns were starting to heat up. That was the first presidential election I would've participated in (or at least I would have liked to participate, but my friend decided getting her dad a birthday present was a higher priority than getting home in time to vote), so I decided I was going to do everything I could to educate myself. I dove in headfirst into everything I could find. I've definitely come a long way since then--I can finally say that I know what I'm looking for in any candidates, as well as keep up with the goings on in Washington and elsewhere.

Thirdly: I think Washington needs a serious overhaul. Of particular interest to me are Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Alan Grayson, Barbara Boxer, Robert Gibbs, Anita Dunn, Timothy Geitner, and every "czar" Obama has appointed--I want them GONE, and I want them gone NOW. Washington is being overrun with corruption and people with Marxist/socialist ideals. I mean, Anita Dunn has said that she turns to MAO TSE-TUNG for political guidance. Obama himself has said that he associated with Marxist professors in college. And then there's everything that Bush did, and Clinton before him, and so forth (Reagan is, for the most part, an exception. Not a fan of how he granted amnesty for illegals, though). I could go on and on. It's time for Americans to turn this crap around.

Yeah, I didn't do so well on this. Forgive me! D:

4. Favorite country besides America - if that's your favorite - and why.

Yes, America is my favorite country. &hearts ARGH. I really love them all. XD I love learning about all the different cultures and histories... but the ones that have grabbed me the most so far... man, the list is still rather long.

I'll start off with this: any country from which I have family history is automatically on my favorites list because I love learning anything and everything I can about them. So included in this bit is England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Albania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Serbia, Greece, Israel, Bulgaria, Romania, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Croatia, and Morocco. Those are the ones I can remember, anyway. XD Out of all that mess, the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Germany, Israel, Poland, Switzerland, Russia, and Norway hold a special place in my heart. :3

And now, on to other countries!

-South Korea: No, it's not just because I'm going there in a month. XD I've talked to some Koreans in the area and they've all been really nice and polite. And their history is really, really interesting! It's really amazing how they've been able to become the country they are now after all that's happened to them. Admittedly, I don't really know much about their culture right now, but theirs is definitely the one I want to learn about most right now.

-Japan: I should think this would be obvious. XD And it's not just for the anime, either! I'd actually really love to go to Hiroshima and Nagasaki someday.

-The Philippines: My grandpa was sent there during the Korean War, and I would love to go and see what he saw. And the mix of Spanish and Asian culture there is awesome!

-Brazil: I'm not even sure why I love Brazil so much. XD I've just always thought it was super-cool. Maybe it's the soccer or something. XD

-Egypt: One of the coolest histories ever, hands down. :3

-China: Again, super-cool history. :3

5. Most enjoyable memory.

Wow. Another tough one. Going home for Christmas after I finished boot camp was definitely a great one. Well, any time I get to spend with my family is great. Let's see... I'm going to go with the open house for the Rexburg Idaho LDS temple. Very rarely do I ever feel that kind of peace. It was like... there was such a spirit of comfort there that I actually started to cry. It's very hard to describe the impact it had on me, but that experience has helped me to work to become a better person every day so I can be worthy to have another moment like it.

Aaaand that's it. Long post is long. That only took me forever. XD Anyway, hope this is all right for ya! :3

Well, I certainly hope you don't screw up or anything in the Air Force. :D
Sounds like fun, and I doubt you will. ^^

Lol, that's a lot of classes! There's a few of those my school doesn't have, namely, mythology, electronics and Seminary. However, we do have the others, and I absolutely love Wood shop, regardless of how bad I am at it. xDDD;;
It was a very fun class. ^^
Mythology sounds really fun though. That's a class I really wish my school offered.

Sorry for such a vague point for number 3. D:
Lol, funny! I really got into politics around the same time as you. You know, I think election time really was a sort of wake up call for a lot of people into the issue of politics.

Lol! That's a huge list of countries! xDDD;;
They're all very interesting, though admittedly, I don't know much about quite a few of them. ^^;
Learning about other cultures and history is quite intriguing, no? =]

That last one sounds very nice. I can't say I've ever heard of Rexburg temple, but if it gives off that sort of feeling it certainly sounds like an awesome place to be. ^^

Thanks for playing! :D
And I hope you have fun in South Korea. :DDD

Wood shop was a blast. :3 I still have the maple bookshelf I made (that my dad helped me with, hence why it turned out so freaking AMAZING). And mythology was the best English-credit class I ever took. I'm surprised that my own high school offered it, especially since it's so small.

There are some countries on that list that I don't really know much about, either (mainly Albania, Slovakia, Romania, Croatia, and Morocco), but that's what makes it fun. Yes, learning about other places is very intriguing. :3

The Rexburg Temple is an LDS temple (dunno if you've ever heard of the Mormon church before, but that's what it's for). It really was a nice experience.

You're welcome. :3 Also, random question, do you have MSN or something?

Lol, yes, Wood shop is amazing. Even though I was the only girl in the class it was exciting and I had a lot of fun. I made a little Jewelry box and a chopping block. I was pretty proud of myself 'cause they both worked out pretty well! :D

So you lived in a small town? :D

Latter Day Saints, right? (may have spelled that wrong...>___>;;)
But yeah, I've certainly heard of Mormons, is that the religion you belong to? :D
It really does sound like an amazing experience. I would like to experience something like that at least once in my life. Sounds very memorable and uplifting to be in the presence of so many people like that. ^^

As a matter of fact I do have MSN. Do you? :D

Yeah, I lived in a tiny town in Idaho. Are you from a small town too? XD

Yup, I'm a Mormon. :D And no worries, you spelled it right. If you want an experience like the one I had, if you're ever in the neighborhood of a temple open house, you should go. They're open to the public. Just a suggestion. :)

I do have MSN. :D shadsieblack@msn.com

Lol, yup, a fairly small town in Oregon.
But I like it. I'm not a big fan of cities and the like. ^^;;

Awesome! :D
I'll definitely be considering finding a temple or something. :D

Mind if I add you then? :D

I've never liked big cities much either, but I'm used to them now, seeing as how I have to live in them. -_- At least it's convenient.

Of course you can add me. :D I wouldn't give it to you if I minded. :D
